DIY: Glitter shoes

Inspired by a Rookie Mag post, I set off to paint my adorable kitten heel mary jane’s into something that would make my toes sparkle.

Here’s the original shoe, totally adorable right? The style and comfort were both spot on, but the colors didn’t quite fit into my wardrobe. I opted to paint the green in a fine black glitter and the strap and heel in a fine gold glitter for a jazzy shoe I could wear anywhere.

Glitter:ย The Rookie Mag post uses chunky silver glitter, but any kind of glitter in any color will do fine.

Directions:

-In a disposable bowl or sheet of tinfoil, mix together mod podge and glitter, the ratio is one to one, but the measurement will depend on how much fabric you’ll need to cover.

-Paint on first layer and let dry, about one hour. It’s important to let each coat dry completely before painting on a new coat.

-If you’re using fine glitter you’ll need about 4-5 coats and if chunky you’ll need about 7-8 coats.

-Seal together with mod podge sans glitter and let dry.

Here’s how they turned out!
